Galapagos Islands straddle the equator in the Pacific Ocean. The vast number of species on these islands was first studied by Charles Darwin during the voyage of Beagle in 1835. Now an Ecuadorian national park and a biological marine reserve, the species here are protected and these volcanic islands are visited by many tourists.
