The Darwin Massif, highest in Tierra del Fuego, rises 8,100 feet above the Beagle Channel and more than 1,000 feet above Mount Luis de Saboya, from which this photograph was taken. A seven-mile ridge separates the range’s high points, Mount Darwin at the southern end (left) and Mount Shipton to the north.
