A climber here is approaching the summit of Illimani, an extinct stratovolcano east of the Altiplano in the Cordillera Real, Bolivia. Visible from La Paz, it stands in relative isolation from neighboring peaks. Of the four summits, the southernmost is the highest at 21,122 feet.
