Lake Titicaca, at 12,532 feet between Peru and Bolivia, covering 3,100 square miles, is the highest navigable lake in the world. To the Incas the lake was revered as birthplace of the sun. At Isla de Sol by the lake’s northern tip, their first emperor is said to have risen from a rock called Titicaca.
