Mount Sir Sanford (11,555 feet) is the monarch of the Selkirks in British Columbia. Another tradition in Canadian mountain exploration is the naming of peaks after knighted countrymen. Sir Sanford Fleming was chief engineer for construction of the intercontinental railroad linking Quebec and the Pacific.
