The Sheenjek River starts near the Continental Divide north of Double Mountain and flows south through the Brooks Range to join the Yukon. Initially braided and shallow, the river descends through a wide valley from alpine tundra to the boreal forests to the south. Water is a vital part of every exploration of the Brooks Range.
